The native from Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in performing arts as she grew up. She was a performer in schools and at community theater. Then she moved in Los Angeles and studied theatre at the University of Southern California. For a year and an half, she was Belle the Princess in Beauty and the Beast. She dropped out of college and set her sights on getting an agent for talent and started auditioning for work in television and film. Butler played a part in the TV show CSI: Miami. The year before, she was an actor in the Don Stark web-series Luke 11-17. Also, she had a regular character on the series I Like Vampires.Butler won the lead in the 2010 rape and the revenge film I Spit on Your Grave which is a remake from the 1978 popular film with the same title. Ferland is not only her Emmy nomination she has received during her career more than fifty other awards. These include a Young Artist Award and a CAMIE Award.
